Kit Fine’s Talk at INPC 14 (Video)

Several people have been asking me about this video that I shot at the INPC 14 conference at Boise, Idaho in April (my conference report is here). I’ve finally had the chance to edit the video (since I got back to Finland and have access to my desktop computer), and I also have Kit’s permission to publish the video.

The theme of the conference was ‘Aristotelian Themes in Contemporary Metaphysics’, although Kit’s keynote address is actually on the determinate/determinable distinction, and hence not *that* closely related. It was an interesting and fun talk though. There are some jokes in the beginning that might not open to people who weren’t at the conference (since they relate to other talks there), but the actual talk starts around the 4:30 mark. The comments session isn’t included, because it would’ve been impossible to record the audio.

Now, a word of warning: the file is 720p and hence about 1,5GB in size, so it will take a while to load and you may not be able to stream unless you have a fast connection. I advise you to view it in full screen (the small button on the bottom right of the embedded player). Also, I did not want to upload this to Youtube, since I would’ve had to split it to 15min pieces. So this is the only place you can find it (at least for the time being). Let me know if you have any problems playing the video. I think the audio is decent, and you should be just about to make sense about what Kit writes and draws on the whiteboard as well.

You may link to this page and publicize the video, or use the provided embedder, but I would appreciate credit. Please do not post the actual file elsewhere without permission!
