Spring 2012 Talks
Bringing the updated list to front — new talk at UNC-Greensboro on March 1!
List of my talks this spring-summer. There may still be another one coming up, but this is more than enough I think! I’m giving the epistemology of essence paper at several places, since it’s central to my research.
- February 13: ‘The Epistemology of Essence’, Speaker Series Talk, UNC Chapel Hill, Caldwell Hall, #213, 1pm.
- February 24-25: ‘Why Quantifiers Cannot Carve at the Joints’, The North Carolina Philosophical Society Meeting with the South Carolina Society for Philosophy, Elon University, NC. My talk on the first day (24th), at 4:20pm, Belk 201.
- March 1: ‘The Epistemology of Essence’, Departmental Colloquium, UNC Greensboro, at 4pm, Foust 206. (Followed by dinner; get in touch with me or the UNCG people if you want to join.)
- March 5: ‘The Epistemology of Essence’, Saul Kripke Center, CUNY Graduate Center, NYC, at 1pm, room 7113.08.
- March 30: ‘Quantification and Ontological Realism’, Departmental Colloquium, Duke University, West Duke 202, 3:30pm. (The talk is followed by a reception and dinner.)
- April 4: ‘(Neo-)Aristotelian Essentialism’, Work-in-Progress Seminar, University of Colorado at Boulder, HLMS 141, 3:30pm.
- June 25-28: Comments on Meghan Sullivan’s paper, Carolina Metaphysics Workshop, Duck, NC.

I heard your talk at UNC. It was so invigorating to see such a staunch defense of realist, a priori metaphysics. Please keep us posted on your next movements.
Thanks for coming! There were some good points in the discussion, I think I might try to motivate the general approach with some considerations about scientific realism next time, in the spirit of what Laurie suggested.
